Get ready for some fun-in-the-sun fishing competition this summer!

The inaugural Battle of the Little Leagues Fishing Tournament is set for July 18, 2026 — bringing together coastal fishing, community spirit, and a great cause along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Benefiting the Danbury Tri-Bayou Little League, this exciting inshore saltwater tournament is open to anglers of all ages and experience levels and little leaguers are encouraged to enter.

Participants will hit the bays and backwaters in pursuit of Texas slam favorites including redfish, speckled trout, and flounder, all while helping support local youth through baseball and community programs.

The official weigh-in will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Capt. Mark's Bastrop Marina, where anglers, families, and supporters can gather to celebrate the day’s catch and enjoy the tournament atmosphere.

The event will also feature:

  • Food provided for tournament participants

  • Exciting raffle prizes

  • A live auction featuring great items and experiences

  • Live music

  • Family-friendly fun and community fellowship throughout the afternoon

Whether you're competing for bragging rights, chasing a tournament-winning fish, or simply supporting a great local cause, the Battle of the Little Leagues promises a memorable day on the water for everyone involved. Official rules are below.

Fishing Tournament Rules

Event Schedule
• Fishing Begins: 6:00 AM
• Weigh-In: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
• Live Auction / Awards / Meal: 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
• Refreshments & Live Music: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

1. Tournament Overview
The Battle of the Little Leagues Fishing Tournament is a team-based inshore fishing event conducted in accordance with all applicable Texas Parks & Wildlife laws and regulations. Participation constitutes full agreement with all rules.

2. General Rules

​• Entries accepted until 12:00 AM, July 18, 2026

• Boats may not leave no-wake zone or private slip until 5:30 AM.

• Official fishing start time is 6:00 AM. No lines in the water before start time.
• Fishing is permitted in all public waters.
• All fish must be caught on tournament day during official hours.
• All participants must possess a valid Texas fishing license.
• All fish must be caught using rod and reel.
• All Texas Parks & Wildlife regulations apply.
• All fish must be kept in fresh, edible condition.
• Fish that are tampered with, altered, or caught illegally will be disqualified.
• Disqualified fish may not be replaced.
• The Weigh Master’s decision is final.
• All boats must comply with State and Federal safety regulations.
• Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.
• Tournament officials reserve the right to cancel or reschedule due to unsafe weather conditions.
• In the event of a tie, earliest weigh-in time determines the winner.
• All protests must be submitted within 30 minutes of final weigh-in.
• Participants must declare which fish are being entered into which category prior to weighing.
• Fish entered into regular and junior side pot categories may not be used in the team stringer.
• TPWD slot requirements apply to all team stringer, individual, and junior categories.
• Participants 15 years of age or younger qualify as "junior".

3. Entry & Team Structure
• Entry fee is $400 per team.
• Maximum of 4 anglers per team/boat.
• One licensed guide allowed per boat. Guide may contribute to the team stringer but is not eligible for side pots.
• All team participants must fish from the same vessel.
• Wade fishing is permitted.
• Wade fishing team members must fish within 100 yards of one another.

4. Weigh-In Procedures
• Weigh-in is from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
• Teams must be in line by 4:00 PM with fish in hand.
• Official time is based on the Weigh Master’s clock.
• Only fish being entered may be brought to the weigh-in area.

5. Team Division
• Teams will submit a 5-fish redfish/trout stringer.
• Stringers will be judged by total weight of stringer.
• Maximum of 2 redfish.
• Remaining fish must be speckled trout.
• Stringer may be all trout.
• Flounder do not count toward stringer.

STRINGER PAYOUTS:
1st Place: $4,000
2nd Place: $2,500
3rd Place: $1,500

6. Little League Bonus Rule
Each verified Little League player adds 0.5 lbs to the team’s total weight (maximum of 3 players, 1.5 lbs total).

7. Junior Division
• Heaviest Redfish (20” – 28” slot)
• Heaviest Speckled Trout (15” – 20”, no trout over 20”)
• Heaviest Flounder (15” minimum)
• Payout is $500 per category
• Separate from regular side pot
• Entry included with tournament entry

8. Side Pots
• $25 entry per person per category.
• Categories: Heaviest Redfish, Heaviest Trout, Heaviest Flounder, and Redfish with the Most Spots
• Minimum payout $250 per category (final payout increases based on total entries)
• Juniors may also buy into regular side pot categories
• Fish entered in the junior division may not be used in regular side pot category, and vice-versa. Participant must choose which fish to enter into which category.
